FACIAL CHEMICAL PEELS

Facials are beneficial for all skin types, and particularly for people who are experiencing skin problems (such as acne or signs of aging). In general, a facial should be done at least four times a year, as each season changes. However, the best plan is to clear time and get a facial once each month. That way, when your new skin cells have been generated, the dead cells can be exfoliated. Facials have become exceedingly popular, as more people realize the health benefits they have to offer.

Chemical peels use acids (broad explanation as there are different types) to break down the top layer or layers of skin. This is to minimise the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Chemical peels can also be used to improve the appearance of fine scars, treat certain types of acne, and reduce age spots, freckles and dark patches.

They can be done alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures. And they can be done at different depths, from light to deep. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from.

This is a 2 session treatment. Combining the exfoliation of a Custom chemical peel + a Dermaplane add-on to treat surface pigmentation, texture.   • • Avoid sun exposure prior to treatment. Sunburned or recent unprotected exposed skin cannot be treated.

    • Do not bleach, wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams in treatment area for 3-5 days prior to treatment

    • Discontinue use of retinoid (Retin A, Tazorac, Differin, Tretinoin, etc) and Hydroquinone products 3 days prior to treatment

    • Discontinue use of 10% or higher Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Glycolic Acids, and exfoliants 5-7 days prior to peel

    • If you have a history of perioral herpes, advise your family physician/pharmacist to begin prophylactic antiviral therapy the day before treatment

    • Schedule your treatment at a time when minor swelling or peeling will not disrupt your social obligations

    • Pre-purchase appropriate post care products, like SPF 30+ sunscreen, gentle unscented cleanser, postcare balm/moisturizer

  • • Omit lotions, creams, make up or deodorant in area to be treated AND arrive with clean washed skin

    • Inform provider of any changes in medical history and of all medications you are taking

  • • Redness might be present (and last up to several hours) after treatment

    • Use Tylenol only as needed for any soreness

    • Although rare, swelling might occur after treatment for 3-5 days

    • Peeling will start 3-5 days after peel. Do not pick or scratch at treated skin but instead keep moisturized

    • Eat fresh pineapple to optimize healing

    • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours

    • Avoid hot steaming shower, steam room, hot tub for 24 hours

    • Treat skin gently washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and pat dry no earlier than 6 hours after peel

    • May use cool compress after 4 hours if excessive discomfort, burning, redness, or swelling

    • Follow post peel instructions with products if included in peel

    • Avoid sun exposure if possible and use a minimum of SPF 30 daily and every 2 hours if outdoors

    • NOTE THAT EVERY ONE IS DIFFERENT IN THE RESULTS AS WELL AS THE POST TREATMENT RECOVERY PERIOD
